Works without an iPhone
GPS, heart rate, motion, wind and SOS run on the Watch. The phone stays on shore.
02
Readable in full sun
Pure black, yellow accent, heavy digits. Wet hands? Use the Crown.
03
Record first, sync later
Every session is written to the Watch first; Health afterwards.
04
Honest safety
Does what it can, says what it can't. No satellite-SOS promises.
THE GLANCE SCREEN

Every vital number on one screen. Detail is one step down.

Mid-stroke you get two seconds with the watch. So distance sits centre and huge; heart, wind and the way home stay at the edges without ever disappearing. Every tile is tappable, long-press anywhere is SOS.

  • 1Time · heart · distance · rate · wind · home: no scrolling.
  • 2The wind arrow is drawn relative to your heading — headwind or tailwind, instantly.
  • 3With Water Lock on, the Crown pages through; no touch needed.
WHAT THE CROWN DOES
In the map layout it zooms the map (200 m – 20 km). In the card layout it switches the primary metric. Under Water Lock it pages through screens.
EDGE LINE = SAFETY
Green, amber, red: wind threshold, distance from shore and check-in timer in a single line.
4,8
Yellow, the opposite of sea
No blue or teal on purpose — they vanish on sunlit water. Yellow/orange follows the marine-gauge tradition.

WIND

Go or no-go? Know before you launch.

Live wind, gusts and a 12-hour trend on the Watch; hourly and 3-day forecast on iPhone. You set the thresholds and they sync across both devices — say amber above 15 kn, red above 20.

Offshore warning
A separate alert when the wind will carry you out; speed alone isn't enough.

Still at home? Drop a pin on the beach you're heading to and see its wind and best hours.
Verdict per sport
The same 14 knots means “stay ashore” for SUP and “go carefully” for windsurfing.
Watch face
Wind now + trend + go/no-go colour on your watch face.

BEFORE YOU LAUNCH

Check the wind at the beach before you leave home.

The wind where you are says little about the wind in a bay ten kilometres away. On iPhone, pan the map and drop a pin on the spot you are heading to; the app fetches the wind for that coordinate and judges it for the sport you picked.

  • 1The verdict is made for where you are going, not where you are standing.
  • 2The coming hours are colour-coded, so you can see which hour works at a glance.
  • 3Save the places you go often by name and check them with one tap next time.
This screen lives on iPhone only, and that is deliberate: the decision is made ashore, with both hands free. On the water, the watch is enough.

SAFETY

If you paddle alone, don't be alone.

The safety core is free and works offline with no server. Even if a subscription lapses, SOS, location and the bearing home never switch off.

Calling emergency services
112 is the single emergency number across the European Union and also works in Türkiye. Where a country has a dedicated maritime rescue line the app shows that one first — 158 in Türkiye, 108 in Greece, 1530 in Italy, 196 in France. Calling directly from the watch needs a cellular plan on it.
Bearing to your start point
Distance and direction to your start point on every page. If the map fails, the compass arrow and distance remain.
Check-in guardian
Set a return time and an emergency contact. Overdue? iPhone reminds you, one tap sends a location message.
Man overboard (experimental)
30 seconds of stillness, GPS loss and, on Ultra, submersion. First an “are you OK?” tap, then the guardian flow.
Calling directly from the watch requires a cellular (eSIM) model with an active plan. On a non-cellular watch the call is routed through a nearby iPhone; if the phone stayed ashore, no call can be placed.
Plain words: the app cannot trigger Apple's Emergency SOS or satellite messaging itself; it reminds you to hold the side button. What it can do is place the call, and it does that without an iPhone. This app is not a search and rescue service.
